Black Marble Vanity: Etched Surround Restored & Protected

This dark marble vanity unit had lost its lustre. Around the inset cream basin, the once mirror like stone had become dull, cloudy and patchy, with faint etch marks ringing the bowl and a tired, flat sheen across the surround. Marble is far softer than it looks, and in a busy washroom the combination of splashed toiletries, soap, perfume and acidic cleaning sprays slowly eats into the polished face. Over time that chemical etching breaks down the surface, leaving the white veining looking chalky and the black ground looking grey.
