Curved Timber Feature Wall Repaired After Signage Removal

This curved timber feature wall panel repair erased the ghost of removed signage from a striking public foyer. The wall is built from large, gently curved cherry veneer panels, and a horizontal row of small fixing holes ran across them where individual letters had once been mounted. In the before image the faint outline of the old name is still readable as shadow lettering, with the screw holes dotted along the line.

The cause is the demounting of dimensional lettering. Each cast letter was held on hidden pins or screws, and once the sign came down the holes and a slight discolouration where the letters had shielded the timber were left behind. On a prestige curved wall, drilling out and replacing panels would be hugely disruptive and almost impossible to colour match.

Our technician filled the holes, blended away the shadow marks and regrained and recoloured the panels so the warm cherry tone and vertical grain carried smoothly across the whole elevation. The after image shows a flawless, glowing run of veneer with no holes and no trace of the former lettering.
