Cracked Motorhome Body Panel Repaired and Re-Sprayed

About This Repair

A clean motorhome GRP body panel repair brought this damaged side back to a smooth, factory white finish. The lower body panel beside the habitation door had cracked and delaminated at the corner, the fibreglass lifting in flaking layers around the reflector. In the before image the area sits part prepared, with feathered filler edges and exposed glass fibre where the loose material had been cut back.

The likely cause is an impact or stress at the vulnerable corner, perhaps a low kerb, a knock while manoeuvring, or movement and flexing over time that opened up a crack in the gel coat. Once water finds its way into cracked GRP it tracks behind the surface and the delamination spreads, so prompt repair matters.

Our technician cut back the failed material, rebuilt and reinforced the corner, then faired the surface flat before respraying it to match the original white. The after image shows a seamless contour around the reflector, the body line restored and the colour and sheen blending straight into the surrounding panel.

A full GRP panel replacement on a motorhome is a major, costly job, and a roadside filler patch rarely holds or matches. Structural fibreglass repair and an invisible respray are skilled work that Magicman has carried out on motorhomes and caravans since 1993, using trained technicians and proprietary materials.
