Drilled Hole in Grey Marble Effect Wall Tile Repaired

A neat round hole had been drilled straight through this grey marble effect wall tile, the bare bore standing out starkly against the soft veining of the glaze. It is a common sight once a wall mounted fitting, bracket or accessory is taken down, leaving an unwanted perforation in an otherwise smart tile. Our tile chip repair filled and disguised the opening so the marble pattern flowed across it once more.

The cause here was simply a removed fixing. Someone had drilled to mount something, and when the item came off the hole remained, exposing the raw tile body and the dark cavity behind. On a marble effect surface this kind of gap is especially obvious, because the eye expects the delicate grey veining to run unbroken across the tile.

Working on the wall in place, our technician packed and built the hole back to the surface, then hand painted the grey marbling and matched the satin sheen across the repair. The after image shows a continuous, flawless tile, with the veining carried through the patched area so well that the original drilling cannot be found.
