Acid-Stained Stainless Steel Sink Restored In Situ
About This Repair
A corrosive cleaning product left sitting in this stainless steel kitchen sink had done real harm to the metal. Across the base and around the waste the surface had gone cloudy and milky, with a dull golden brown bloom etched into the steel where the chemical had pooled and attacked the finish. The bright, even sheen the sink was made with had been replaced by a streaky, matt haze. This is a stainless steel sink stain repair, not a structural one, and harsh chemical burns on steel are far more common than people expect.
The instinct is often to attack it with yet stronger cleaners or an abrasive pad, but that simply scratches the grain and spreads the dullness, and a shop bought sink kit aimed at ceramic is no use on brushed metal at all. Our fully trained technician treated it properly, backed by more than 30 years of surface repair experience since 1993. The etched and clouded zones were carefully worked back, the grain of the steel re established and the finish brought back to an even, consistent sheen using Magicman proprietary methods and materials, all without lifting the sink from the worktop.
The after image shows clean, bright stainless once more, the brown bloom and milky haze gone and the light reflecting evenly across the bowl. A sink the owner feared was ruined for good is fully back in service.
