Chipped Grey Laminate Bookcase Shelf Edge Repaired

One shelf on this grey melamine bookcase had lost a bite of its front edge. A knock, most likely from a heavy book or a dropped object, had cracked the thin laminate skin and broken a chunk clean away, leaving a rough, fibrous patch of pale chipboard core exposed against the smooth factory grey. It is the sort of grey laminate shelf edge chip repair that crops up constantly on melamine faced furniture, where the surface is hard but brittle and offers little once the skin is breached.

Tracking down a matching replacement unit is rarely realistic, and it would have meant clearing every book off the shelves first. Our technicians dealt with it on the spot instead.
