Impact Chip on White Acrylic Shower Tray Repaired
About This Repair
Near the back corner of this white acrylic shower tray sat a sharp, dark impact chip, a single point of damage where something heavy had struck the surface and punched through the top coat. Unlike a long crack, this was a concentrated knock, the sort caused by a dropped bottle of toiletries or a falling fitting, which leaves a deep, discoloured pit that quickly attracts grime and lets water into the layer below. We started the repair chip in shower tray by cleaning the cavity right back to a sound edge.
Our technician filled and bonded the chip, rebuilt the surface level with the surrounding tray and then colour matched and polished the area to the original bright white. As the after photograph shows, the dark mark has gone entirely and the floor of the tray reads as one clean, smooth surface, with no dip or shadow to catch the eye or hold water.
Reaching for a shower tray repair kit is understandable, but a single deep chip is exactly where a generic kit tends to disappoint. The filler often shows as a pale or glossy spot, sits slightly raised and traps moisture if the bond is poor, leaving you worse off than before. Our technicians are fully trained, draw on over thirty years of surface repair since 1993 and work with proprietary materials developed for trays like this. Guides showing how to fix a cracked shower tray make patching a chip look simple, but blending the repair so it truly vanishes takes real practice.
