Chipped Grey Countertop Basin Edge Repaired
About This Repair
A countertop basin should be the centrepiece of a bathroom, so a broken front edge is impossible to ignore. On this grey ceramic vessel basin a sizeable chip had been knocked out of the rim right at the front, almost certainly from a hard object being dropped onto it or a heavy tap fitting catching the lip. The before image shows the jagged white scar exposing the raw body of the basin beneath the smooth grey glaze, with rough flaking around the edge of the impact.
Our chipped worktop repair rebuilt that missing section by hand, modelling new material into the void to recreate the original curve of the rim, then colour matching and glazing it so the repair followed the soft grey tone and matt sheen of the basin. The after photograph shows a continuous, unbroken edge with no shadow line and no change in colour where the damage had been, the basin once again reading as a single clean piece.
Guides online make filling a ceramic chip look straightforward, yet matching a coloured glaze and feathering it into a curved edge so the join disappears is exactly where DIY attempts give themselves away. A generic worktop repair kit rarely carries the right tone, leaving a pale visible plug that traps moisture and worsens over time. Magicman does this professionally every week, drawing on more than thirty years of practice since 1993, fully trained technicians and proprietary glazing materials.
