Chipped Acrylic Shower Tray Corner Repaired In Situ

About This Repair

The raised corner of this stone resin shower tray had lost a sizeable chip just below the screen bracket, exposing the rough, grey aggregate core beneath the smooth white top coat. Chips in this spot are common, a dropped shampoo bottle or a knock during cleaning is usually enough, and once the hard outer skin is breached the porous core soaks up water and the damage edges outward. Our chipped shower tray repair began by cleaning out the cavity and assessing how far the chip had spread.

Our technician rebuilt the missing corner with a hard setting filler, shaped it to follow the original profile of the tray and then refinished the surface to match the surrounding white. The after image shows the corner restored to a clean, solid edge with the grey core fully hidden and the gloss blended into the existing finish, all done in place without disturbing the screen or the tiling.

A shower tray repair kit from the DIY shop can look like an easy answer, but matching a stone resin finish is harder than it appears. The filler in a kit often sets a slightly different shade, sits proud of the surface and lets water back into the core through a poor bond, so the chip soon reopens. Magicman technicians are fully trained, have more than thirty years of repair experience behind them since 1993 and use proprietary materials made for this kind of work. Plenty of guides explain how to repair a cracked shower tray at home, yet rebuilding a load bearing corner so it lasts is a job for an experienced hand.
