Torn Laminate Corner On Marine Seating Restored
About This Repair
On a piece of fixed marine seating, the vinyl covering had peeled away at a corner to expose the raw board beneath. The before image shows the pale blue finish torn back in a jagged triangle around the plinth corner, with the bare timber substrate showing through and the loose covering hanging away from the frame. Corners take the brunt of passing feet, bags and cleaning trolleys, and once an edge lifts it quickly tears further, leaving an unsightly and easily snagged flap. This torn vinyl seating corner repair was about rebuilding that corner so the covering looked continuous and secure again.
The cause is wear and snagging at a vulnerable edge rather than a one off blow, the kind of damage that creeps along once the bond at a corner fails. Our technician rebuilt and re covered the corner, blended the colour into the surrounding blue and finished the edge so it sits flush against the seat above. In the after image the corner is whole and smooth, the torn flap gone and the finish flowing cleanly around the plinth as if it had never lifted.
A communal seat cannot simply be taken out of service for weeks, and a glue and tape home fix on a lifting corner rarely holds or matches, leaving a lump that snags again almost immediately. Magicman has repaired seating and laminated surfaces on site since 1993, with trained technicians and proprietary materials for a lasting, invisible result.
