Peeling Laminate Worktop Resurfaced by Sink

Right beside the sink, the worst possible place for it, this dark granite effect worktop had started to delaminate. A large irregular area of the decorative laminate surface had lifted and peeled clean away, exposing the bare brown chipboard core underneath. Constant splashing and standing water around the sink edge had crept under the laminate, the adhesive had let go and the top layer had peeled back like a label. The before image shows the rough orange substrate sitting flush against the stainless drainer, a stark contrast to the speckled grey black surface around it.

Our kitchen laminate worktop repair rebuilt the missing surface rather than replacing the run. The technician sealed and levelled the exposed core, built the area back up to the right height and then recreated the granite effect across it, stippling in the fine grey and black speckle so the repair matched the surrounding pattern. The after photograph shows a continuous dark granite effect top meeting the sink cleanly again, the peeled patch gone and the surface sealed against future water ingress.

A laminate worktop repair kit is no answer to peeling like this.
