Cracked Acrylic Bath Rim Repaired In Situ

This acrylic bath had developed a long hairline crack running diagonally across the corner of the rim, the section that takes the most weight when someone sits or leans on the edge. Flexing in the panel below, combined with years of that downward pressure on an unsupported overhang, had finally opened the surface up. Left alone, a split like this lets water creep underneath, where it stains and softens the structure from behind.

Our technician bonded and rebuilt the fractured rim from within, filling the crack, reinforcing the weak corner and then re-levelling the surface so the repaired area sits flush with the surrounding acrylic. The gloss and bright white were colour matched across the join, and the after image shows a clean, continuous edge with no trace of the original damage. The whole job was carried out in situ, so there was no need to lift or replace the bath.
